Pauanui airfield (NZUN) splits the township of Pauanui Beach. It is a grass strip of 850 x 60 metres with a golf course, camping ground and some housing on the Northern boundary and housing for the full length of the Southern boundary. A comprehensive airfield website can be viewed here.

Flying activities continue throughout the year with many residents of Pauanui flying their own aircraft in to the airstrip. Over the summer period, particularly around Christmas, there can be up to 50-60 aircraft operating from the airfield.
